Be Still...
It's amazing how the Lord speaks loud and clear through His Word. Today, I was reading in Colossians 1 about the supremacy of Christ. Then, a Scripture I've read a million times spoke to me in a fresh way. Thank You Lord for the way that You reveal Your truth to me (on my lunch break at work). It was Colossians 1:17... "HE IS BEFORE ALL THINGS, AND IN HIM ALL THINGS HOLD TOGETHER." There is so much to be said for being still and knowing that He is God. In our world today, we are bombarded with phone calls, text messages, emails, to-do lists, etc. There is always someone or something vying for our attention. Lately, I have been reminded of the importance of being still. Nothing is more important than spending time with Jesus. However, I have found that many "good" things often come so close to taking His place. I don't want to miss anything He has for me. I don't want to get caught up in the wrong activities (even if they are good) and miss the richness of what He has planned for my life. I don't want to miss out on Him. He is always better. He is the Gift. Lord, forgive me when I make Your good and perfect gifts idols in my heart. I want You to be first... forever and always. I love Your presence, and I want more of it. I want more of You. You are my treasure. I long for You to be before all things, because I know that You hold all things together. Before any other role, I am Your child. I am Yours.
